The gallery aims to trace the origin, growth and
development of the
Indus
alphabetic writing from 3000 B.C. to 1500 B.C. and further
into Brahmi Script of 300 B.C. from which other Indian
regional scripts were evolved. The early phase of this
writing is illustrated with the help of inscribed
Indus
seals and seal impressions of Lothal displayed in the
Alphabet Gallery. The
methodology adopted in deciphering the
Indus
script is explained through charts. Prof. V. Muralidhara
Sarma is the co-ordinator
